The Stories Behind The Songs...
'Nancy's Song'
I was lucky enough to meet Nancy at one of my gigs, an 80-something year old lady with the heart of a 16 year old! So full of life and vitality, and thankful for every moment life had to give. Sadly, Nancy never got to hear her song, but I like to think of her happily reunited with her beloved husband on the other-side.
'Golden Ring'
Is a song that I wrote for my brother and sister-in-law, Lance and Zoe, for their Wedding Day. A golden song for a golden couple.
'On My Way'
This is a feel good song that I wrote for everyone. I believe that we are all capable of achieving our life dreams if we only apply ourselves with a positive state of mind. So... believe in yourself, follow your heart, and get ‘on your way’ !
'Weave Your Dreams'
A lullaby for my amazing nephew, Leo. This little dude never fails to put a smile on my face, just like his sweet little baby sister, Fern. May you both enjoy weaving your own dreams into the sky.
'Winter Skies'
The beautiful thing about music is that it offers us hope. ‘Winter skies’ is a song about hope, and every time I sing it I am reminded that my grandad will always live on within me. For a long time after my grandad, Roy Stone died I couldn’t seem to find the words to explain just how much he meant to me. I think there is a natural time of immobility after someone dies, when you’re simply trying to accept that they are gone. Finally, years after his death ‘Winter Skies’ popped out of my head and onto the page. I hope it does him justice, for he truly was a sincere gentleman and a major influence in my life. I am grateful for every moment we shared together, as granddaughter and grandad.
'H.O.L.L.A.N.D'
I wrote the song 'H.O.L.L.A.N.D' about three years ago after a moment of inspiration whilst visiting my grandparents' home. It was my grandmas' birthday at the time and one of her cards caught my attention: It was a card from a husband to his wife; a card from my grandad to my grandma; a card that inspired my song.
Inside this card, in my grandads spider like handwriting was written the word 'H.O.L.L.A.N.D'. My grandma told me that this anagram stood for 'Hope Our Love Lasts And Never Dies', and was a constant feature in his letters to her written throughout their lives together. She still keeps all those letters today, many of which were sent when my grandad was stationed far from home in Gatow, close to Berlin as an RAF Police Dog Handler.
It's heart-warming to know that over 50 years later my grandad still writes 'H.O.L.L.A.N.D' in my grandmas' cards. Their love has stood the test of time, and this led me to think how I would feel to be parted from the people I loved? What must it be like for so many other soldiers, in so many other conflicts, torn apart from their families and loved ones? What could possibly keep them all going when times get tough?
My song 'H.O.L.L.A.N.D' is not only dedicated to my grandparents; Maurice and Olive Syson, but also to my own true love and to everyone around the world who believes in love, hope and peace. My song is a calling for peace and a hope that one day we can live with ourselves, each other and the earth without conflicts that tear us apart.

hope our love lasts and never dies
